学院概况 a brief introduction to the college
浙江师大外国语学院的前身是浙师院外语系，始建于1960年，下设英语、俄语专业。1965年，学校从杭州迁至金华，并于1978年重建外语系。1988年9月成立大学外语教学部，后于1996年10月与外语系合并成立外国语学院。
学院现设有英语系、 日语系和大学外语教学部三个教学单位，拥有校级重点研究所（外国语言学与应用语言学）和院级研究所（课程与外语教师发展研究中心）各一个，外国语言学与应用语言学为浙江省高校重点学科。外国语言学与应用语言学、英语语言文学、课程教学论（英语教育）和教育硕士专业(英语)为本院硕士学位授予点。本院师资力量雄厚，现有教职工137人，其中正教授8人，副教授26人，每年还聘请英、美、加、日等国专家、学者来我院任教、讲学。现有全日制本科生861人，硕士研究生(含教育硕士)230人。我院与英、美、日、澳等国的九所高校有协作关系，每年还选派优秀日语专业高年级学生赴日本公费留学。学院拥有现代化的电教设备，设有15个语言实验室和30个多媒体教室，同时拥有录音棚，录音室，调频台和报告厅。
近五十年来， 我院为本省中、高等教育输送了大量优秀英语教师，为社会主义建设事业培养了一大批外语人才，也为我校公共外语教学作出了很大贡献。
the foreign languages college of zhejiang normal university (znu) was established in 1960, and then known as the foreign languages department of the former zhejiang teachers college (the predecessor of znu) with two specialties, namely, english and russian. in 1965, znu moved from hangzhou to jinhua, and the department was re-established in 1978. the college foreign languages education department was established in 1988 and it was merged into the foreign languages department to set up the foreign languages college in 1996.
now the college is composed of the english department, the japanese department, the college foreign languages education department and two research institutes----the foreign linguistics and applied linguistics research institute (the university-level key research institute) and the curriculum and foreign teacher development research institute (the college-level research institute). the foreign linguistics and applied linguistics is a key discipline under the special fund-support of the educational bureau of zhejiang province. and foreign linguistics and applied linguistics, english literature and linguistics, curriculum and teaching methodology (english) are three disciplines authorized to grant the master degree of arts, and english education is entitled to grant the master degree of education (english). there are 137 staff members in the college with 8 professors and 26 associate professors. and foreign (from u.k., u.s.a, canada, japan, etc) and domestic experts and scholars are either engaged to teach at the college or invited to come on lecture tours every year. there are 861 undergraduates and 230 postgraduates (including those for the master degree of education) in our college. we have established intercollegiate collaborations with nine foreign universities in such countries as usa, uk, japan and australia. the excellent senior students from japanese department are sent to study in japan every year at government support. we have equipped advanced facilities for teaching and learning, including 15 language labs, 30 multi-media classrooms, and a recording studio, a tape recording room, a frequency-adjusting studio and an auditorium.
in recent 50 years, the college of foreign languages has turned out a large number of excellent english teachers for secondary and higher-education institutions in zhejiang province, and has trained a host of foreign language talents for the socialist construction, making great contributions
