法政系是2003年7月从工商管理系分立出来的新系，现有的法学、公共事业管理、社会工作三个本科专业分别于1995年、2002年和2004年招收本科学生。除专业教学外，法政系还承担着全院学生的思想政治理论课与人格教育体系大部分课程的教育、教学任务。目前系部有专任教师73人，其中教授7人，副教授16人，讲师24人，硕士以上学位占75%，师资力量雄厚，结构合理。
法政系作为教学单位，始终突出教学的中心地位，重视教学的规范性和教学质量的提高，不断进行教学研究与改革并取得明显效果。
近年来，系部在学校的大力支持下，着力实验室与实践基地建设，现已基本建成模拟法庭、心理实验室、公管与社工实验室、办公自动化机房，有实践基地22家。
法政系注重科学研究，有大力度的科研激励政策与措施，这二年，全系发表论文152篇，其中核心期刊32篇，人民大学复印资料转载3篇、索引8篇，出版教材3部，专著2部，科研到款24.5万元。这些科研成果为实现建成教学研究型系部的目标奠定了良好的基础。
法政系注重学生的专业素质教育、人格教育和素质拓展训练，学生学习主动性、积极性高，不及格率低，英语四、六级通过率高，综合素质优秀，综合竞争力强，就业率高。
法政系秉承“责任”校训，本着“唯实”系训，正同心同德、发奋图强、朝气蓬勃、蒸蒸日上。
a brief introduction of law and politics department
the law and politics department, which derived from the business and management department in july 2003, is a new one in jiangsu polytechnic university. there are now three undergraduate majors : science of law(the recruiting began in 1995), public administrative(the recruiting began in 2002) , and social business and service(the recruiting began in 2004). besides its professional education program, special courses which so-called “ ideological and political education courses” are provided by the department , furthermore , some courses concerned with humanity issues are also provided to the students of the university.
the department has a well-balanced faculty team in age and specialties. among the 73 faculties, there are 7 full professors, 16 associate professors, 24 lecturers. the rate of the teachers who have got a master degree is 75%.
the law and politics department is a teaching and educating unit, so the teaching and learning issues are of the main care in the department. due to the development of enhancing the regulation and quality management , the reformation of teaching and researching have got a series of achievements in recent years.
supporting by the leaders and resources of the university, the department are now focusing in building the laboratory and practice base, some projects have been finished basically, e.g., the mock court, the lab of psychological test, the lab of public administration and social job, the computer office , etc. the number of practice base is 22.
the issues of academic research are considered of big importance in law and politics department. so many important policies and measures have been made and took to enhance academic researching, e.g., the financial policy, the aid policy, etc. in the recent years, about 152 important articles are published, 32 articles are published in the “core periodical” , 3 essays are copied ,8 essays are indexed by the duplicated date materials of people university. many textbooks and works have been finished and published. the amount of money of fund is about 240000 rmb. the circumstance and achievements of the department lay a well structured foundation for a teaching and researching department.
with the development of cultivation of students, special attentions are paid to the following issues: the cultivation of professional abilities, the shaping of personal characteristics, the training of skills. the students are now taking the learning program actively and initiatively. the students seldom get failure in passing the examination. there is a high percentage of passing the band 4 and band 6 national english test. the students have a perfectly comprehensive human nature and have a comprehensive competitive advantage. the undergraduates have got a high employment rate during the recent years. under the guiding of “realistic approach”---the spirit of the department, the department is developing quickly and strongly , and is full of vigor and vitality in a consistent mind
